Green Smoothie Recipe

One of the most often asked questions I get after people watch my “Tough Mudder Training” video is “What was in that shake?”. I used to answer every inquiry with a cut & paste list of ingredients only to get further questions about the nutritional content. I made this video hoping to answer every possible question one might have. It didn’t. I still get questions. My two kids make a guest appearance in this vid, that’s why it’s one of my favorites. They actually love the taste of this shake and I share it several times a week with them when I make it. One thing that I should have mentioned is that you need a high speed blender to make this. I use a Vitamix. Anything less powerful will not liquify the ingredients. If you don’t mind the texture I guess that would be fine. The music is by the late Isaac Hayes “Hung Up On My Baby” which was sampled in another great song by the Geto Boys “My Mind’s Playin’ Tricks On Me.”

This looks fantastic. Do you ever use any protein powder after workouts or just stick to the greens? I want to start eating more greens and this looks damn good. I was watching your ‘teaser vid’ and it looks like you partake in the wheat grass. I need to get me a juicer and start growing!

Ha great video! Love the mustache appearance on the kids. Looks yummy!
Not sure my nutri bullet will handle the seeds, but I usually buy it ground anyway! Running the tough mudder at Englishtown NJ Oct 12th. Can’t wait!

How much water do you add ?

As much as you like, Adam. If you like it watery add more, if you like it thicker add less. I would stat with less and then add water until it is tho consistency you prefer.

This is great! Ive been training for a tough Mudder coming up this weekend. I usually do a variation of a green smoothie with vegan protein powder and spinach. But I just made this and used chia seeds instead of hemp seeds! Turned out great!
