TriState Tough Mudder 2011

I made this video in an attempt to capture the entire experience of doing a Tough Mudder. This was a really special day because one of my good friends from California flew out and stayed with me for a few days just to do the event. His name is Vinton Heuck and he’s the tall guy with the red hair and beady, evil eyes. He’s also an award winning animation director (look him up).

I knew I wanted to use this song because the Ramones are probably my favorite band. While assembling this video I realized it was getting drawn out and boring with just footage of me and my friends so I came up with the idea of having subscribers to my MMT Facebook page send me pics from the event that I added to the vid. I love the way it turned out. The beginning orchestral song is my nod to the old Bugs Bunny cartoons I love. The end is just some dude I saw as we were getting in the car about to leave. I have no idea who he was or if he has ever learned to walk upright again.

What kind of gloves are you wearing? My first Tough Mudder will be this September.

Those gloves are a cheap pair of Mechanix work gloves that you can find most anywhere. Try to avoid cotton and leather and take them off when you don’t need them to air dry your hands. Good luck with your Mudder!

I tend to have trouble with my feet (blisters, especially when wet) Any advice on what to wear and what not to wear??

Google “Injinji socks”. They work great for me. For waterproofing you can look into some products called Hydropel, Gurney Goo, or use a mixture of Gold Bond Powder and Vaseline. Also, make sure your shoes fit properly. Hope that helps!
